File Formats in Infinite Nodra

What Infinite Nodra can open and what it can save. Everything is converted to a 32-bit floating-point working space on the way in, and converted back on the way out.

What Nodra can open

Most formats are opened with the File Input node. The same file types work in a HotFolder.

Formats Infinite Nodra can open
FormatExtensionsNotes
PNG.png Read at 8 bit per channel, with alpha. An embedded ICC profile is converted to sRGB.
JPEG.jpg .jpeg An embedded ICC profile is converted to sRGB; gray and CMYK profiles are ignored. The rotation stored by the camera (EXIF orientation) is applied by default.
TIFF.tif .tiff 8 and 16 bit; RGB, RGB with alpha, gray and CMYK (CMYK needs an embedded ICC profile). Uncompressed, LZW, Deflate or PackBits. Embedded ICC profiles of RGB and CMYK files are applied. For multi-page files you pick the page. Other layouts, such as palette images, are read at 8 bit.
OpenEXR.exr Half and float, scanline files. Values stay linear and are not clamped. Tiled and deep files are not supported; in multi-part files the first part is read.
WebP.webp Lossy and lossless, with alpha. An embedded ICC profile is applied.
HEIC, HEIF, AVIF.heic .heif .avif Decoded by macOS and converted to sRGB. HDR content is tone-mapped to a standard range.
Photoshop PSD and PSB.psd .psb Reads the flattened image; layers are not read. Grayscale and RGB files are read at 8 or 16 bit, uncompressed or RLE-compressed, with their embedded ICC profile.
Camera RAW.cr2 .cr3 .nef .arw .raf .orf .rw2 .dng .pef .srw .3fr .iiq Developed with LibRaw. File Input uses the camera white balance and default settings; the RAW Load node adds white balance, demosaic, highlight and exposure controls.
BMP, TGA, GIF, Radiance HDR, PIC, PNM.bmp .tga .gif .hdr .pic .pnm .pgm .ppm Read at 8 bit per channel, through the same loader as PNG and JPEG.
PDF.pdf One page, rasterized by macOS. File Input reads page 1 at 300 dpi on white; the Load PDF node lets you choose page, resolution (36 to 1200 dpi), background and page box. Encrypted PDFs are not supported.
SVG.svg With the Load SVG node. Rasterized at a width or scale you choose; colors are treated as sRGB.
3D LUTs.cube .3dl .csv .png .xmp With the Load LUT node. A .png is read as a Hald CLUT or a Unity strip; an .xmp is a Camera Raw profile with an RGB table.
ICC profiles.icc .icm RGB and CMYK profiles for File Output, Softproof and Gamut 3D.
Nodra patches.nodra .nodra.json Open from the app or double-click in Finder; .nodra.json is the older name. The patch inside a TIFF, JPEG or PNG saved with “Embed Patch” comes back with “Restore from image”.
Any other fileanyThe Load File node passes any file on unchanged, for example audio, video or JSON, and detects its type.

What Nodra can save

Images are saved with the File Output node. The Output Recipe node writes up to three of these formats from one source in a single step.

Formats Infinite Nodra can save
FormatExtensionsNotes
PNG.png 8 bit, with alpha. Optional color profile and metadata (title, creator, description, copyright, keywords).
JPEG.jpg .jpeg Quality 1 to 100 (default 90). Optional color profile and metadata.
TIFF.tif .tiff 8 or 16 bit, with alpha, uncompressed. Optional color profile and metadata. Can also hold the patch and, as a second page, the unedited original.
TIFF CMYK.tif .tiff 8 bit, converted with a CMYK ICC profile that you choose and that is embedded in the file.
OpenEXR.exr Half (16 bit) or float (32 bit), ZIP-compressed. Linear values, never clamped; alpha only when the image has it.
WebP.webp Lossy (quality 1 to 100) or lossless. Always with alpha; no color profile or metadata is embedded.
BMP, TGA.bmp .tga 8 bit, always sRGB without a profile.
Radiance HDR.hdr Linear floating-point values without sRGB encoding, no profile.
Photoshop PSD.psd With the PSD Export node: up to six layers with names and blend modes, layer masks and up to four alpha channels. RGB at 8 or 16 bit.
3D LUTs.cube .3dl .csv .png .xmp With the Save LUT node: .cube (standard, DaVinci Resolve, Affinity or Capture One variant), .3dl (10, 12 or 16 bit), .csv, Hald CLUT or Unity strip as PNG (8 or 16 bit), and a Camera Raw profile (.xmp) for Lightroom and Camera Raw.
Nodra patches.nodra Saved from the app. File Output can also embed the whole patch in a PNG, JPEG or TIFF.
Any other fileanyThe Save File node writes a file that came in through Load File or Text as File byte for byte, unchanged.

Color profiles

PNG, JPEG and TIFF can be saved as sRGB (the default, no conversion), Adobe RGB (1998) or Display P3, or with any RGB ICC profile file you pick. The pixels are converted to the profile and the profile is embedded. BMP, TGA and HDR are always sRGB. Colors outside sRGB are not clipped while you work, because the working space is not limited to the sRGB range.

The patch inside the image

A TIFF, JPEG or PNG saved with “Embed Patch” carries the complete patch as XMP metadata, so the file still opens everywhere. With “Embed Original”, a TIFF also keeps the unedited original as a second page of the same file; there is no separate file to lose. In Nodra, “Restore from image” brings back the nodes and sliders.

In Photoshop

The free Infinite Nodra Player opens .nodra patches and works on the 8-bit and 16-bit documents you have open in Photoshop; 32-bit documents are not supported. About the Player
